TOPIC: The Role of Dequest® Carboxymethyl Inulin biopolymer as sustainable solution in Autodish, Laundry, and Surface Care applications
The growing demand for eco-friendly cleaning products has created a need for solutions that balance high performance with sustainability. While traditional synthetic polymers used in detergency offer excellent cleaning efficiency, they often lack environmentally friendly attributes. Conversely, many green alternatives fall short in delivering the cleaning power required for modern applications.
To bridge this gap, Italmatch has developed an innovative, low-molecular-weight biopolymer derived from chicory root plants. The Dequest® CMI product line is based on chemically modified inulin, a natural polysaccharide, and provides a versatile, biodegradable solution with mild sequestering, anti-scaling, and dispersing properties.
Engineered as a co-builder and anti-redeposition agent, Dequest® CMI is suitable for use in both automatic dishwashing and laundry detergent formulations. In automatic dishwashing, it helps prevent filming and spotting, while in laundry applications it reduces fabric incrustation caused by hard water salts. Its strong dispersing capabilities inhibit the redeposition of removed soil onto dishes or textiles, thereby improving overall cleaning performance.
This presentation offers an in-depth overview of the performance of the Dequest® CMI product line, highlighting both its standalone benefits and its synergistic effects when used alongside other detergent chemistries.
