TOPIC: Revolutionizing liquid laundry detergents with a novel biobased anti-redeposition polymer – Finnfix® LD

Abstract: Carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) has been a benchmark ingredient in laundry powder formulations for many years due to its exceptional anti-redeposition (ARD) performance and whiteness retention on fabrics, particularly for cellulosic fabrics.

The household laundry detergent market is migrating from traditionally majority powder laundry detergents towards liquid laundry formats, which consumers prefer for ease-of-use and rapid dissolution in machine. However, the transfer of the same CMC’s as used in powder detergents into liquid laundry detergents has proven to be problematic, with phase separation issues with shelf storage of such formulations limiting their adoption and excluding the ARD function provided by CMC from liquid laundry formats, until now.

Nouryon will introduce a novel CMC liquid ingredient, which is stable when formulated into laundry liquids, with proven ARD performance and excellent shelf-life, opening up CMC’s ARD benefits for the important and rapidly growing liquid laundry detergent segment.

Further, CMC’s are majority derived from natural sources, are inherently ultimately biodegradable, and provide functional attributes which today are provided by high carbon footprint, non-biodegradable synthetic water soluble polymers in liquid laundry detergents.
