TOPIC: The Shifting Sands of Sustainability

For the fragrance industry Sustainability has been driven by 3 principal factors:

• Global warming concerns leading to carbon emission targets
• Human and Ethical concerns over natural raw material sourcing
• Human and Environmental safety concerns leading to increasing restrictions on usage

With the change in political and economic priorities in the US and Europe where are we today?

In this talk an updated overview of the Sustainability priorities of the Fragrance & Flavour Industries will be discussed (based on IFRA-IOFI Sustainability Committee survey) with a short review of their future plans. 

This will be followed by a discussion of some of the challenges the industry faces in the short to medium term, and some reasons to be hopeful for the future.
