Topic: NEW PRIMARY MULTIFUNCTIONAL
SURFACTANT FOR HAND SOAPS
Modern trends in detergents induce
formulators to research increasingly complex compositions able to satisfy
traditional properties such as higher washing efficiency (min. dosage with max.
yield), dermo-compatibility, soft sensorial feel during and after wash,
biodegradability and eco-toxicity.
Consumers also desire some
additional characteristics which guide their purchase choice regardless to
product performance. These characteristics include viscosity, aspect, foaming
power, color, fragrance etc.
Detergency effectiveness is mainly
due to primary surfactants which require the addition of various secondary
surfactants and additives. This is necessary to increase the detergent final
quality, ultimately obtaining all those characteristics required by the
consumer.
To reach this goal, an innovative
multifunctional primary surfactant based on a modified long-chain 1-Alkene
sulfonate was developed.
The aim of this paper is to analyze
quantitatively and qualitatively the efficacy in terms of cleaning efficiency,
mildness on skin, dermo compatibility, rheology, foaming power, foam aspect,
ease of use and cost effectiveness.
